There are a lot of excellent podcasts available. I go between seasons in which I listen to a large number of podcasts and seasons in which I just listen to a few. At some point in my life, i stopped listening for a long while. I can’t even explain that, but I picked it up again. Right now, i’ve made it a thing to listen to podcasts at least 3-4 times a week coz they are therapeutic.

Is it okay if I tell you a little secret? When podcasts initially became popular, I was completely dismissive of them. They were ludicrous in my opinion. I already despise talk radio, so why on God’s green Earth would I want to sit, stand, walk, run,-you get the picture-while listening to other people talk? And, more often than not, TO THEMSELVES??? It completely blew my head.

When I started listening, my orientation changed. Part of what appeals to me is that it feels like friends are speaking directly to you. I enjoy listening to podcasts produced by real-life friends. Podcasts cover a wide range of topics for me. You might be able to piece together my genuine personality if you combine all of the podcasts I listen to.

Anyway, if you’re a podcast head like me, you’re definitely always on the lookout for fresh recommendations because the well rapidly runs dry when you listen to audio content all day. In the aim of introducing you to some new shows, I’ve put together a list of podcasts that I’ve been enjoying and think you should check out.

We are all impacted by bias and stereotypes: Men, like women, are bound by preconceptions and are thought to be less if they act outside of their gender roles. More than a third of boys believe that society expects them to be tough and powerful, to “be a man,” and to “suck it up.” We are all bombarded with gender stereotypes, whether we like it or not. We all get subtle (and not so subtle) indications about how to be a guy or how they live their lives. I stumbled upon this new podcast recently and I did really enjoy the first episode. This podcast is literally about MEN. It’s available on all platforms. You should give it a listen and I hope you enjoy it as I did.

The Receipts is hosted by your girl Tolly T, Audrey formerly known as Ghana’s Finest, and your mamcita Milena Sanchez — three ladies who have become three of my closest friends.

The Receipts is an open and honest pop-culture podcast that explores topics that concern young women, particularly young Black and Ethnic Minority women, and creates a safe environment for voices to be heard and listened to every other week. However, the Receipts is only available on Spotify now, which makes me sad but happy at the same time because these ladies truly deserve all of their honors, and it feels like when they win, we all win. The Receipts is a hilarious, quick-witted comedy that you won’t want to miss.

This was one of the first true-crime podcasts I listened to, and it remains my favorite and model podcast. It’s interesting, well-researched, and, most importantly, it’s not exploitative, which is unusual in this genre. The host Casey, and the team approach these difficult subjects and incidents with care and compassion for the victims.

Casefile is the place to go if you want to learn everything there is to know about a case. I would highly recommend this podcast to anyone who like listening to spooky, down-to-earth stories of crimes and killings. It’s not only down to earth, leaving no details out, but it also adds a personal touch by immersing you in the moment, almost as if you’re there yourself.

Recommend episodes: Case 115: Operation Cathedral, Case 157: The Strip Search Scam, Case 178: The Woman Without a Face, Case 180: Billie Payne & Billie Jean Hayworth.

There are times in life when all we need is a gentle reminder to breathe and a tiny bit of inspiration. For me, listening to this podcast has turned into a peaceful type of daily meditation. This audio is vital, whether you need serenity while weathering the storm of the current world or just want a moment of peace in your daily life.

This podcast conveys the feeling of catching up with a long-lost friend over a coffee in a small cafe tucked away down a cobblestone alley on a beautiful day. I’ll never be able to get enough of the peace and quiet this podcast delivers. Take in the amazing poetry through Atticus’ warm voice, with soothing music playing in the background, and let it calm your spirit.

Recommended episodes: You and I Are Stars, Poetry To Me, She Had an Uncanny Energy, You’re Worth Your Imperfections, Without This – there is nought by Emily Dickinson, To Me She Is, When They Met.

Do you ever feel like you’re stuck in one or more aspects of your life? Do you ever feel as though the negative voices in your head are constantly talking to you? This is a podcast to listen to from someone who genuinely wants to help you out on things that are relevant to what individuals face on a daily basis. I found out this podcast weeks back, when I was still struggling with my mental health and it really helped to some extent. I 100% recommend this podcast if you want to make improvements in your perspective on life or healing after a major life challenge.

Recommend episodes: There are just three episodes, so I recommend all.

I saw my friend hyping this podcast on her Twitter and Whatsapp and got so curious. I had to listen. I wasn’t disappointed! A series of conversations between four friends, discussing consciousness, reality and our place in it. Listen to these men talk about their experiences growing up and different societal topics in today’s world.

Recommended episodes: Episode 1: Therapy Session, Episode 3: Aids On Tape, Episode 14: ADHD Boyz, Episode 15: It’s Too Horny In Here, Episode 19: Whose Pussy Is This? It’s MEIN.

Podcasts aren’t just about horrific unsolved crimes, society & culture and political debates. There are many great sex-positive and relationship podcasts out there with hilarious, relevant, emotional stories and debates that can shift the way you think about sex and love.

Laid Bare is produced by award-winning sex blogger Oloni, author and blogger Shakira ‘Scotty’ Scott, and bad B model and presenter SJ, it is another success for sex positivity. Laid Bare is a novel take on sex education that we all need, even as adults, debunking stereotypes, examining the entire spectrum of sexuality, and answering dilemmas in a ‘Ask Oloni’ style.

Recommended Episodes: Episode 15: Casual Sex and Religion, Episode 24: Is He Using Your Body To Masturbate, Sis?, Episode 25: Sex Myths, Hentai & Wanking, Episode 65: Ask For My F*cking Consent, Episode 66: Get Laid With Us, Episode 78: What’s Your Freak Number?

There it is, my podcast recommendations of recent. They’re good, I promise you!
Thank you for reading.
